Acting Chief of Yahukimo Police, AKBP Zet Salino, stated that the operation was led directly by the Head of Intelligence Task Force ODC-2025, AKBP Sukamat, S.I.K., S.H., M.H. The joint team conducted an intensive search in the area and successfully discovered five fatalities.
"We have conducted an intensive search in the area and found five victims, namely AB (19), S (50), YD (36), MA (51), and RR (33), who were known to be gold panners operating in the vicinity of the incident," said AKBP Zet Salino.
Upon arrival at the scene, the team was divided into two units: the search team and the evacuation team. The search operation faced obstacles due to heavy rainfall and challenging terrain conditions, which were steep and slippery. Criminal Investigation personnel from Yahukimo Police also carried out a crime scene investigation at the location.
The evacuation process was further hindered by the distance from the incident site to Bingki Village, which spans more than six kilometers across difficult terrain. To accelerate the evacuation, the next phase will be carried out using a helicopter operated by the Indonesian National Police (Polri).
AKBP Zet Salino emphasized that the evacuation operation is part of the police force's commitment to protect civilians and maintain security in the region.
"We will continue our efforts to evacuate victims of the armed criminal group (TPNPB-OPM) and ensure the safety and security of the people in this area," concluded AKBP Zet Salino.
