Nduga, Olemah.com — The Central Command Management of the West Papua National Liberation Army (TPNPB), through its official statement, announced a period of national mourning following the death of Yoel Nagen, identified as the Deputy Commander of the WSM Battalion under TPNPB Kodap III Ndugama–Derakma.

According to the statement, Yoel Nagen passed away on January 28, 2026, after suffering from illness for approximately ten months. His funeral was held on January 29, 2026, at the WSM Battalion headquarters, with members of the organization in attendance.
Background According to Official Statement
Based on information provided by the Central Command Management, Yoel Nagen was born in Kosim on October 4, 1998. He reportedly joined TPNPB in 2018 and was later appointed Deputy Commander of the WSM Battalion.
The statement claims that his operational areas included Nduga, Suru-suru, Korowai, and Yahukimo, and that he was also involved in activities alongside TPNPB units in the Yahukimo region.
Declaration of National Mourning
Following his death, TPNPB Kodap III Ndugama–Derakma, together with Kodap XVI Yahukimo, declared a national mourning period within their organizational structure. The announcement was addressed internally to TPNPB units claimed to be operating across 36 regional defense commands in Papua.
The Central Command Management stated that the mourning declaration was intended as a mark of respect within the organization and to inform relevant parties.
